ALESSA, Japanese DJ, Producer and Classically Trained Pianist, Dies at 33

The electronic community is mourning ALESSA, the Japanese DJ, producer and classically trained pianist, who has died suddenly at the age of 33.
She passed on 5 September 2026, with a private ceremony held on 9 September. A cause has not been disclosed. Her team asked for privacy while thanking her fans and collaborators, saying her "music and memories will continue to live on."
A rare musical range
ALESSA bridged two worlds most artists never touch at once. An award-winning pianist with perfect pitch, she staged Japan's first DJ-and-orchestra concert with the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra — merging her classical training with club music. On the dance side, her 'Into The Unknown' with Vadai (2020) marked the return of Kryder's Sosumi Records.
Tributes
Kryder, the Sosumi founder, shared a heartfelt tribute: "She was full of energy, really outgoing, a life-size personality and an incredible friend," recalling shared moments across Asia and Europe and describing her as "the absolute life of any room she entered."
