Sasha & John Digweed's Iconic 'Northern Exposure' Gets 30th Anniversary Reissue

One of the most important DJ-mix compilations ever made is getting the anniversary treatment. Sasha & John Digweed's 'Northern Exposure' returns as 'Northern Exposure Redux' for its 30th anniversary, via Late Night Tales.

Why it mattered

Released in 1996 (following their gold-certified The Mix Collection), Northern Exposure did something radical: instead of a peak-time Saturday-night album, it explored progressive house, dub, trance and breaks to capture the full atmosphere of the duo's sets and early US touring. It helped prove that a DJ mix could be a cohesive artistic statement, not just a track dump — a template countless mix albums followed.

What's in the reissue

The Redux spans digital, expanded CD/vinyl editions and a Deluxe Box Set, with new artwork, extensive liner notes and a third disc of modern ambient reworks and dub interpretations.

"We didn't want to just deliver a Saturday night peak-time album. We wanted to capture the whole environment," Sasha reflected. "The fact that 30 years later, it's getting re-released is mental, and great!"

The reissue lands hot on the heels of the pair joining Carl Cox at UNVRS Ibiza for their final island show of the season.
