Four Tet has done it again. On 3 July 2026, Kieran Hebden quietly dropped an 8-track, 37-minute album under a brand new alias: Wingdings.
The joke is in the execution. Both the album title and every track title are written entirely in the Wingdings font — meaning listeners have to decode strings of symbols themselves to work out what anything is actually called. It went up on Spotify with no announcement.
Not entirely new material
Two of the tracks have been circulating in Hebden's live sets for a while. Track two first appeared last October, and track three has been a regular through the past year, though neither had proper video documentation.
Another one for the collection
Hebden has an established habit of releasing under aliases, and Wingdings joins a roster that already includes 00110100 01010100, KH, Percussions and 4TLR. For an artist whose main-name releases sit near the centre of modern electronic music, the side projects remain where he takes the bigger swings.
Hebden also had one of the summer's most talked-about live moments the following week, going b2b with Skrillex at Kappa FuturFestival.
