Ibiza Just Witnessed a Once-in-a-Lifetime Total Solar Eclipse

For a few minutes on 12 August 2026, the party island stopped partying and looked up. A total solar eclipse passed directly over Ibiza and the Balearics, with totality falling between roughly 20:26 and 20:32 local time — right at sunset, one of the rarest possible alignments.

The scene reacted in real time

Ibiza's resident superstar DJs documented the whole thing. Tiësto posted one of the day's most-shared moments, kissing his wife as darkness fell, while Fisher and Martin Garrix shared eclipse footage from across the island as it happened.

The clubs made an event of it

Naturally, the island turned a celestial event into programming. Dedicated parties ran at 528 Ibiza, S'Arenal Beach, Cova Santa and Pikes Ibiza (with DJ Harvey), alongside Pukker Up's eclipse boat party, Woomoon's 10th anniversary, and the "Feels Like Eclipse" event.

It was, as more than one attendee put it, a genuine "once-in-a-lifetime" moment — the rare occasion where "everyone stopped and looked up together." The same eclipse also passed over Iceland, where Björk soundtracked totality with a DJ set.
