Beastie Boys' Mike D Releases Debut Solo Album 'Thank You'

Mike D, founding member of the Beastie Boys, has released his debut solo album — and it lands firmly in electronic territory. 'Thank You', out 28 August 2026 on Fontana under the Mike D 5D moniker, is a 13-track set of "sonically inventive post-electronic grooves and hypnotic hooks."

It's a genuine reinvention rather than a nostalgia lap. The record resists easy categorisation, with Mike D's distinctive voice moving across an experimental, groove-led landscape a long way from the Beasties' rap-rock roots. Critics have responded: four stars apiece from The Times, MOJO and The Standard, while Rolling Stone praised his live shows for the "punk energy that led to his band's early breakthrough." Lead single 'Switch Up' hit A-list rotation on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Family affair on tour

The Mike D 5D touring band is a family band — it includes his sons Skyler and Davis Diamond plus additional musicians. UK dates run from a sold-out Glasgow (26 October) to a sold-out London Shepherd's Bush Empire (28 October), with European shows through 5 November.
