When the weather took away Swedish House Mafia's biggest-ever home show, the trio gave it straight back to the fans — for free.
The cancellation
On 28 August 2026, the first of two headline nights at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium was called off hours before doors over severe weather and thunderstorm risk. With an open-top stadium and lightning in the forecast, the decision was about safety. "Due to severe weather conditions, tonight's show has unfortunately been cancelled," the group said. "The safety of our audience, artists, crew, and staff is our highest priority." It was set to be the trio's largest-ever headline concert in their home country.
The comeback
Rather than let it end there, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello announced an impromptu free show the next afternoon — 29 August at 1:30 PM in the city's iconic Götaplatsen square, in front of the Poseidon statue. Thousands packed in, waving Swedish flags and singing the anthems back in broad daylight, as the group delivered a full-throttle set that turned a washout into "one of the summer's most talked-about hometown moments."
It's been a defining summer for the trio, from their Ushuaïa Ibiza residency debut to the release of the Lykke Li collaboration 'Happiness Is So Sad' — and this hometown gesture may be the moment fans remember most.
