Jeff Mills' Tomorrow Comes The Harvest Announces New Album 'The Forbidden Planet'

Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills is returning to one of his most adventurous projects. Tomorrow Comes The Harvest has announced a new album, 'The Forbidden Planet', out 20 November 2026 on Axis Records.
The project began as a percussive dialogue between Mills and the late Afrobeat pioneer Tony Allen, and has since evolved into a shifting ensemble. The album features keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary, tabla virtuoso Prabhu Edouard, flautist Rasheeda Ali and, as special guest, bassist Laurent Vernerey.
Improvisation as method
Recorded over nearly two years across studios in Miami and Paris, the 12-track record is built on "electronic and acoustic improvisational conversations" — often captured in an almost one-take process and then refined into composition. Tracks include 'The Shadow Knows', 'Superstar', 'The Key of Life' and 'The Happening'. The physical edition adds a DVD of the group's live performance at London's Jazz Café.
It's another reminder that Mills — one of techno's founding architects — has spent decades pushing the music toward jazz, cinema and the cosmos rather than settling into the four-four he helped define.
