Martin Garrix and Ed Sheeran turned up unannounced at a fan's wedding at Chicago's Adler Planetarium on 30 June, performing their collaboration 'Repeat It' for the newlyweds and their guests.

The whole thing started with a direct message. A fan messaged Garrix asking whether he and Sheeran might be able to stop by — and, with both artists already in Chicago for Garrix's Americas Tour, they said yes.

It went everywhere

Footage of the appearance spread fast, picked up by ABC7 Chicago, NBC Chicago and TMZ, well beyond the usual dance music press. It is the kind of story that travels because it needs no context: two of the biggest names in pop and dance music showing up at a stranger's wedding because they were asked nicely.

The moment lands in the middle of a busy stretch for Garrix, who has been running his Americas Tour alongside a Barclays Center run — the same venue where he later debuted his Madonna collaboration 'Bizarre'.
