Bonnie Tyler Dies Aged 74 — David Guetta Pays Tribute to 'Together' Collaborator

Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh singer behind some of the most recognisable vocals in pop history, has died aged 74. She passed on 10 July 2026 in a hospital in Portugal following an illness she had been receiving treatment for.

Tyler's career ran five decades and was built on a voice nobody could mistake for anyone else's. 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' (1983) and 'Holding Out for a Hero' are the songs everyone knows, but she kept working across film, television and live performance long after the chart peak — and, notably for this scene, kept collaborating with dance and electronic producers.

The dance music connection

Her most recent crossover moment was 'Together' with David Guetta and Hypaton, which sampled and re-vocalised the hook from 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' and put her voice back in front of club audiences and a much younger generation of listeners.

Guetta's tribute was short and direct: "Your music and spirit will live on forever. 'Together' will always mean a little more now." He thanked Tyler for the chance to work with her.

She continued performing and recording into recent years, leaving an influence that reaches well beyond the pop charts she is remembered for.
