Charlotte de Witte Pulls Off a Psy-Tinged Surprise Techno Set on Tomorrowland's Mainstage

Charlotte de Witte closed out Weekend 1 of Tomorrowland 2026 with an unannounced Mainstage appearance — and used it to go somewhere very few people expected.
The Belgian techno artist opened in familiar territory before steering the set into psychedelic trance, with the closing stretch leaning fully into hypnotic, psy-leaning productions. On a Sunday Mainstage usually reserved for the festival's most broadly commercial programming, it landed as one of the weekend's most left-field moments.
What she played
The set drew on her own Acid Code rework of Enrico Sangiuliano, a new collaboration with Theo Nasa titled 'The Resistance', and material from Vini Vici, Lilly Palmer and Pan-Pot — Vini Vici in particular signalling the psytrance direction early. Several unreleased IDs ran through the middle section.
Why it matters
De Witte has spent the last few years pushing her sound harder and faster, and this is the clearest public move yet toward the psy-trance crossover that has been building across European techno lineups. Doing it unannounced, on the biggest stage at her home festival, made the point louder than a release would have.
The set capped a Boom weekend that also produced a full fireworks ban, Like Mike's health-related cancellation and the Las Vegas 2027 announcement.
