Tomorrowland 2026 Fireworks Banned Over Fire Risk — Locals React

There will be no fireworks over the Tomorrowland Mainstage this weekend. Local mayors and the provincial governor have imposed a full ban on pyrotechnics for the opening weekend of Tomorrowland 2026 in Boom, citing dry weather and elevated fire risk.

The decision follows last year's major wildfire incident in the region, which left authorities unwilling to take chances with a site that draws hundreds of thousands of people across two weekends. No replacement pyrotechnic display has been announced.

Boom residents are divided

Reaction among neighbours has been mixed. "From a safety perspective, it's a good decision, and it's also better for the animals," said Marina, a local resident. Another neighbour, Kim, said she was surprised by the ban but ultimately supportive: "I'm happy they decided to ban the fireworks this weekend."

Others will miss it. "Part of the magic disappears a little," said attendee Sophie Heylen. Nathalie Claes, who runs a riding school near the site, called the display "always a beautiful spectacle."

The festival goes ahead

Everything else is running as planned. Tomorrowland 2026 continues across sixteen stages through both weekends, and the opening days have already produced headlines of their own — including Charlotte de Witte's surprise psy-tinged Mainstage set and the announcement that Las Vegas joins the Tomorrowland map in 2027.
